TLC fired Jon Gosselin from his own show, “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” partly because of the hit ratings he took as he stopped caring about his image in the media, and partly because the public had grown tired of him, since he proved to be the contrary of what audiences initially made of him. Shortly after the announcement of going on with the show with Kate Gosselin alone, Jon also issued his own statement, saying he had decided to put divorce proceedings on hold until he and Kate could solve their problems, as InTouch Weekly can confirm.

According to Jon’s attorney speaking to several media outlets, the television star has realized his attitude towards the divorce has hurt Kate just as much as it has hurt him, including the many statements he made regarding her behavior towards him while still married. Before he officially becomes her ex husband, Jon wants a chance to make things right, to talk through every problem with Kate so that the divorce does not end up destroying their family altogether.

“Even though we were heading for a divorce, it appeared that Kate had been suffering from this divorce as much as I had. That’s why I asked my attorney to put the brakes on this divorce so I could try to regain control over the future of our family. So Kate and I could join on a cooperative course that would benefit our family – not destroy it. I regret my conduct since Kate and I separated [on June 22]. I used poor judgment in publicly socializing with other women so soon.” Jon says in a statement sent out to several media outlets in the US.

Initially, Jon and Kate were supposed to be officially divorced by the end of November, but the date seems to be subject to change if Jon has his way. As a matter of fact, he’s determined to convince Kate to see things his way, regardless of the fact that, not very long ago, he was saying in televised interviews that he had come to despise her and that their marriage basically came to an end because she was a controlling shrewd who always kept him on a tight leash.

“He woke up one morning, looked in the mirror and didn’t like the reflection.” Jon’s attorney, Mark Jay Heller, says for In Touch. “He is hoping to inspire his wife to become less rigid, inflexible and controlling and open up. We’re hoping Jon and Kate can sit down together and start exploring what to do about their situation. Once they do that, the rest will fall into place.” the attorney adds. Kate Gosselin is yet to make a statement on Jon’s clear intention of stalling divorce proceedings.
