Even though some analysts keep saying that tablets will cannibalize the market share of netbooks, the latter type of laptops are still very much a growing market, and one Jolibook is just about ready to start making rounds in Europe.

The netbook that is bound to reach UK stores in a matter of days is called Jolibook because it is pre-loaded with the Jolicloud operating system.

In fact, it is the first ever netbook to actually feature this OS, even though its hardware is not exactly all that unique.

Like most other entry-level mobile computers, it is built upon the Intel Pine Trail platform.

In this case, said platform is represented by the Atom N550 central processing unit, a dual-core central processing unit (CPU) with a clock speed of 1.5 GHz.

This chip is backed up by probably 1 GB or 2 GB of RAM, though nothing specific is given in terms of memory by the report on NetbookNews.

Among the things that are, however, known are the hard disk drive of 250 GB and the 10.1-inch display, as well as a battery that can keep the whole thing running for up to 7 hours.

Other specifications include a built-in webcam and, most likely, wired and wireless connectivity, plus USB.

All in all, the newcomer will be sold as a sort of alternative to all the Windows 7 or Windows XP-loaded netbooks on the market.

In fact, the report actually says that the Jolibook may turn out to be especially competitive thanks to the price it will supposedly sport.

Basically, UK-based consumers will be able to acquire it in exchange for £279, which is the equivalent of $443 and 326 Euro.

The first shipments are expected to start being carried out tomorrow, on November 19, 2010, in the United Kingdom.
