14 DAY TRIAL // Amber Heard and Johnny Depp are not splitting, contrary to reports online saying a breakup was imminent. By the looks of things, all wedding plans are back on the table, after they took a breather and pushed back the big day indefinitely, while they went through a “rough patch.”
The two got engaged in January 2014 and have been a couple for roughly 3 years, though they deny becoming romantically involved on the set of the film “The Rum Diary” because, at the time, both were involved with other people.
A troubled 2014
By mid-2014, they were said to be having some serious issues, mostly because Depp wouldn’t stop drinking (allegedly) and because Heard was starting to get cold feet (also allegedly). One of Depp’s last public appearances was at an awards show where he strolled up on stage so intoxicated that he had to grab on the microphone stand to steady himself.
After that, hell broke loose in the media and blogosphere, with reports saying Amber was “embarrassed” by his behavior, urging him to go to rehab, and at the same time, using his drinking as her leverage for wanting out of the marriage.
Then, sources close to the couple told the glossies that, indeed, Johnny and Amber were having some problems and that they had decided to put the wedding on hold for a while.
“A great way to start 2015”
All that’s in the past now, E! News reports. The two rang in the New Year together, attending the 80th birthday party of Depp’s mother, which was held at the exclusive restaurant Ago in West Hollywood.
“Everyone had a great time, [everybody was] relaxed and comfortable. [It was] a great way to start 2015,” says a spy.
“Amber and Johnny are really happy,” adds another insider. “And their relationship is in a really good place.”
The e-zine also has a photo of Johnny and Amber arriving at the restaurant, and while it’s not enough to be able to tell if the latter insider is right or not about how solid the relationship is again, it most definitely is enough to confirm that they rang in the New Year together, as a couple.
In interviews last year, Depp hinted that he was quite in a rush to get married to Amber and maybe even start a family together as soon as possible. Ironically, with his longtime partner Vanessa Paradis, he used to always say that marriage was just a piece of paper that meant nothing to discourage all questions about a possible wedding.
