Extortion plot discovered, under investigation

On January 2, John Travolta’s son, 16-year-old Jett passed away, collapsing in the family bathroom from one of the many seizures that marked his entire life. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead upon arrival. It has been recently revealed that a photo taken as Jett was on said ambulance ride is now at the center of an extortion plot of the Travoltas.

Police in the Bahamas, where Jett died following a family boating trip, have confirmed that, indeed, a photo was the object of the blackmail. Apparently, the pic was snapped as Jett lay dying in the ambulance, despite the fact that father John and mother Kelly were also present. The first evidence in the case seems to indicate that the photo was snapped with a cell phone by one of the paramedics on the ambulance.

The man, together with a local politician in the Bahamas, it is being said, came up with the plan of making money off the photo, by threatening the actor they would sell it to the tabloids, if he did not pay a yet unspecified amount of money. Travolta, in his turn, contacted his attorneys, who traveled to the Bahamas, spoke to the extortionists, and then reported them to the police, several media outlets are reporting.

“Regrettably in a time of such terrible grief there are often a few individuals who attempt to make false claims in hopes of making millions of dollars. We will never let that happen. [We have] the utmost confidence in the Bahamian police and government.” Ossi and Butler, Travolta’s legal representatives, said in an official press release upon their return from the Bahamas.

Medical staff on the ambulance that carried Jett Travolta to the hospital say that John was so distraught that he could hardly keep back his tears. All the while, though, he kept on “willing” Jett to live. Since January 2, John Travolta has made no public appearances, as neither has he left his Florida estate. No comment from him or wife Kelly Preston on the extortion plot has yet been made public.
