It’s no longer a secret Michael Jackson had what one may call a troubled childhood: on one hand, there was the pressure of fame, on the other, his father’s strict behavior and repeated beatings.

As for the latter, Joe Jackson has no regrets – and even says so in a new video shot for a new Michael Jackson film and that surfaced just recently on TMZ.

Not only does Joe have zero regrets, but he’s also positive without his occasional “spankings,” Michael would have ended really bad, perhaps even dead before turning 30 or so.

In fact, Joe claims, it’s not like not all parents don’t spank their children when they’re bad, so what he did with Michael was no different.

What’s different is that other parents weren’t suddenly put in the spotlight and have accusations hurled at them; therefore, this was yet another case of media twisting things.

“The interview with Joe was shot by Jacksonsecretvault.com over the summer and will be used as part of a movie Katherine Jackson is producing with Howard Mann,” TMZ says of the recently surfaced video.

Asked about the allegations of physical abuse, claims that Michael himself confirmed on many occasions, Joe makes no excuses for himself. On the contrary.

“I had to be like that because when raising him, in those days, so many gangs out there getting into trouble, going to jail. Most of them are dead now. He didn’t have to worry about that,” Joe says for the camera.

Since he did nothing wrong, the question of whether he has any regrets actually manages to take Joe by surprise.

“No! They tried to make a big issue when I spanked Michael or some of the kids, ya know? Just like they didn’t spank their kids when they did wrong. The media twists everything,” Michael’s father goes on the record saying.

As expected, the moment the video got out online, Michael Jackson fans started showing their dissatisfaction with it on various dedicated forums.

See here for it and judge for yourselves whether their right in being so outraged by Joe Jackson’s comments on the “spankings” he’d give Michael as a child.
