Joe Danger and Joe Danger 2: The Movie have been confirmed for Linux and SteamOS by its developer, Hello Games.

Originally launched as Playstation 3 exclusive titles, Joe Danger and Joe Danger 2: The Movie will now be enjoyed by the Linux players, on Steam for Linux and later on SteamOS.

Both Joe Danger titles could be categorized as 2.5 racing games in which you are usually battling against your own times, but with the style and grace of a stuntman. The truth is that Joe Danger can be easily placed in its own genre.

The Linux version will share the features of the original PC release, with better graphics and Steam integration (leaderboards, ghost data and sharing levels through Workshop).

“There’s also special extra content in Joe Danger 2: a special Minecraft environment you can build levels in plus Steve as a playable character, and the full Team Fortress 2 mercs lineup, from the Spy to the Heavy, to play as.”

“We’ve also included the Ultra Hard PC Challenge on the main menu of each game, which presents its most challenging level so you can understand the true nature of Joe Danger (under the colourful cartoon style lies cruelty and pain :D),” said Sean Murray from Hello Games in an email.

Another goal of the developers from Hello Games is to provide support for the SteamOS launch, which is scheduled for release sometime in 2014.

“The Linux version is exciting because means Joe will be ready for SteamOS. As far as I’m concerned the PC versions are the ultimate versions of Joe Danger, and we always saw Joe Danger as a living room game, with all that entails. So it’s kind of fitting that JD will be appearing on Linux just as SteamOS helps Steam move into the living room,” Sean also said.

A precise launch date hasn't been announced just yet, but it will be very soon, hopefully before the holiday season.
