Jennifer Lawrence has always been very outspoken about her idea of bodily perfection and how it doesn’t coincide with industry standards, for which reason she always denies producers and movie studios the “pleasure” of bullying her into dieting and losing weight. Joan Rivers is taking issue with that.

During a recent Yahoo! event, Lawrence was asked what she thought of fashion shows and how they could, and not just in theory, pressure female celebrities into losing weight by planting the idea in their head that only a certain body type was “ideal” – and that body type was skinny.

In her response, Lawrence also included the E! talk show Fashion Police with Joan Rivers and Kelly Obsourne, saying, “Shows like the Fashion Police and things like that are just showing these generations of young people to judge people based on things [that don't matter].”

Well, Joan Rivers is fuming mad and she’s not mincing her words in going after Jennifer on Twitter. She’s “ignorant” for saying something like this, the controversial television personality says.

“It’s funny how Jennifer Lawrence loved @E_FashionPolice during Awards Season when we were complimenting her every single week... But now that she has a movie to promote, suddenly we’re picking on all those poor, helpless actors,” Rivers writes.

“WAIT! It just dawned on me why Jennifer Lawrence fell on her way up to the stage to get her Oscar. She tripped over her own arrogance,” she adds, recalling the moment when Jennifer fell on the stairs up the stage at the Academy Awards, on her way to collecting the Best Actress statuette.

While Rivers might be at least partially justified in being upset that Lawrence name-dropped her show out of all the shows she could have chosen instead, she’s clearly missing the point / bigger context, because Jennifer wasn’t talking about the fashion but about the way Fashion Police also makes weight an issue.

It wasn’t long ago, for instance, that Rivers and Osbourne were mocking Christina Aguilera for gaining weight, or that Rivers was making quite shameless fat jokes about Adele. In neither case was their commentary about fashion, but about weight.

“The world has a certain idea. We see this airbrushed perfect model, and then if you don’t look like that… You just have to look past it. You look how you look. What are you going to do, be hungry every single day to make other people happy? That’s just dumb,” Jennifer said before the Fashion Police comment.

Perhaps if the women on Fashion Police stopped talking about the weight and just focused on the fashion, Jennifer would have nothing to criticize about the show because, then, it would be worthy of its name.
