This week fans of the Rock Band franchise who can't wait to get new tracks to play around with will be pleased to know that this week the popular music simulation title will be getting a full album from rock legend Jimi Hendrix, the much appreciated “Are You Experienced?”, in order to celebrate the 200th album delivered as downloadable content.

Harmonix is delivering the album complete with versions for some of the songs, information included alongside the title:

Purple Haze Manic Depression Hey Joe – the live version from Voodoo Child: The Jimi Hendrix Collection Love or Confusion May This Be Love The Wind Cries Mary Fire – the live version played at Woodstock 3rd Stone from the Sun Foxy Lady Are You Experienced? Stone Free taken from the new Valleys of Neptune Highway Chile

As always with DLC for Rock Band one track from the album will set gamers back 200 Wii Points, 160 Microsoft Points or 1.99 dollars while the entire collection will cost 1600 Microsoft Points or 19.99 dollars.

Paul DeGooyer, the senior vice president of electronic games, music and programming for MTV Networks, stated, “The success of our song downloads has afforded us the opportunity to approach Rock Band as an interactive music platform and reshape the way gamers think of expansion content.”

He added, “Our commitment to weekly releases, disc export, forward compatibility of downloads and the launch of the Rock Band Network were milestones in the development of Rock Band's vibrant digital business. Now, with the release of our 2,000th song, we are reaffirming our commitment to present new music every week – and with the new features in Rock Band 3, there will be more ways than ever to experience it.”

On October 26 Harmonix and MTV Games will be releasing Rock Band 3 for the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3, the Nintendo Wii and the DS.
