Why should you pay?

Major Nelson, one of the main sources of news related to anything Xbox 360, has announced that the full and unedited (there are quite a few F bombs in there) version of the interview Jim Cramer from Mad Money gave on the Daily Show is now available on the Xbox Live Video Marketplace.

You should know that you can only download the interview for free if you live in the United States and if you have an Xbox Live God account, which costs a monthly subscription. If these conditions apply to you, then you need to log into your account and then you go to Video Marketplace – TV Shows – Networks and Studios – Comedy Central – The Daily Show – Season 14. Then, you need to do quite a bit of scrolling down to get to the unedited video featuring Jon Stewart and Jim Cramer.

The only problem with the announcement from Major Nelson, which reads “PLUS, If you’re an Xbox LIVE Gold member you download this episode absolutely free,” is that the entire unedited show featuring the two TV personalities is already available, for everyone, for free, on the Daily Show website. You don't need to have an Xbox Live account, which costs money, to see it and you don't even need an Xbox 360. You only need a computer and a reliable Internet connection.

It's nice that console makers like Sony and Microsoft are trying to allow gamers to get all their media, from TV shows to movies, via their consoles, but it's pretty pathetic to see how Microsoft hopes to make a quick few bucks by capitalizing on important media events and basically offering them for free to those who have already given the company money for an Xbox Live Gold account.
