JetBlue customers are advised to be on the lookout for fake Facebook promotions that promise free tickets on behalf of the company.

“With summer ending we have decided as a fun promotion to give away 5 tickets to any place you wish. This will be an all paid 6 day Vacation Package for you & 4 of your friends. (This includes Airfare,Hotel and $1,800 spending money). To win you must Like & Share This Photo,” the scam messages read.

As Hoax Slayer highlights, the offer has nothing to do with JetBlue. Instead, it’s part of a scam designed to trick Facebook users into boosting a fake JetBlue page’s popularity.

This is what’s known as a “Like” farming scheme.

JetBlue Airways is aware of the scam. The company has published the following statement on the official JetBlue Facebook page:

“Sorry folks, we wouldn't run a contest outside of our official Facebook account: www.facebook.com/jetblue. If you see this sweepstakes (or anything similar), please don't share it – simply mark the faux contest as spam. We’ve also notified Facebook and they are working to remove the JetBlue impostor.”
