Jessica Simpson said she had no intention of revealing the name of her daughter until after she was born, but it seems she didn't think of sneaky insiders when she decided to keep it a secret. It's Maxwell, it has emerged.

The latest issue of InTouch weekly claims Jessica and fiancé Eric Johnson had a very difficult time agreeing on a name for their first child together, but they eventually did so.

As is usually the case, they wanted a name that meant something for them both – and they settled on Maxwell.

It's a rather unusual name for a girl, but it means something to both Jess and Eric, InTouch says.

“They tossed around a lot of names, including some wacky ones like Zinfandel, but couldn’t agree on anything,” a family friend says for the e-zine.

“They’re going to call her Maxwell, Maxi for short. Jessica wanted a name with meaning,” the insider further says.

Maxwell is Eric's middle name, but also the maiden name of his grandmother – so yes, it's a moniker with meaning.

Speaking with Elle magazine only a short while ago, Jessica confirmed they had settled on a name, but said she didn't want to reveal it until the baby was born.

At the same time, she promised it wouldn't be anything out of the ordinary, as is usually the case with celebrities, who come up with the most uncommon and sometimes funny name for their kids.

“We're embroidering it on things. It's nothing shocking and nothing you'll have to add to the dictionary. When people hear it, they'll know why,” she said.

InTouch doesn't have official confirmation that Simpson's daughter will be called Maxi but, as these things go, the report could be right on the mark.

We'll know in a few weeks, when she'll be born.
