Weight Watchers helps a lot but she’s still an “everyday woman who is trying to feel good”

For the first time since she gave birth to her daughter Maxwell, Jessica Simpson is breaking her silence to speak on her weight gain during pregnancy and, as expected, on how difficult it is to shed it now that the baby is here.

Though she won’t unveil her new figure for a few more days (on September 10, on Katie Couric’s new talk show), Jessica says people should not expect to see her back to her toned self of a few years back because shedding the weight isn’t a walk in the park.

She knows she gained more pounds than she should have, but she really wanted to enjoy herself during her first pregnancy, she says in a brand new interview cited by People magazine.

“I let myself indulge in everything I wanted because it was the first time I was ever pregnant, and I wanted to enjoy it,” the pop star turned incredibly successful businesswoman explains.

One of the things she most loved to indulge in was macaroni and cheese, one of her all-time faves. Simpson explains her weight gain by her inability to realize that, once the baby was born, she would have to put herself through hell to go back to her pre-pregnancy body.

“I didn’t realize [the weight] didn’t all come off with the baby,” she says.

Right now, she’s cut all these unhealthy snacks and foods from her diet because she’s on the Weight Watchers program. She’s also working out a lot with a personal trainer, with the aim of losing the weight in the healthiest way possible.

She can’t do anything too physically demanding for the time being though because her own body (the upper half, more specifically) won’t let her.

“My [breasts] are way too big to run at this point,” she says – so no jogging for her yet.

Even though she’s already lost a lot of weight – TMZ has new photos of Jessica hitting the gym, and the difference is astounding – she tries to stay realistic about the whole process.

“My body is not bouncing back like a supermodel. I’m just your everyday woman who is trying to feel good and be healthy for her daughter, her fiancé and herself,” Jessica says, in what can only be a statement that will resonate with millions of women from all over the world.

As noted above, Jessica Simpson will make her first public and official appearance since giving birth on September 10, when Katie Couric’s new talk show premieres.
