For the past couple of weeks, there's been a lot of talk about how Jessica Simpson had given birth to her first child, a baby daughter she named Maxwell. As it turns out, she didn't – yet.

Late last week, InTouch came out with a “news from the future” issue in which it offered “all the details” of Jessica Simpson's delivery, assuming that the star had already given birth.

This prompted an avalanche of other reports in the press and on the blogosphere and, in turn, they generated a warm response from fans, who reached out to congratulate her on her baby.

They rushed into it, Jessica herself wrote on her Twitter page over the weekend.

She is still very much pregnant and, it would seem, still figuring out all the fashion-related details of the big moment.

“To everyone who keeps congratulating me on the birth of my baby girl...I'm still pregnant!! Don't believe what you read ladies and gents,” the fashion designer told her friends and followers on the social networking website.

Later, she returned with an update: she was still pregnant and still deciding what to wear when she'd go in to deliver the baby.

“I just woke up from a dream that I wore a leopard caftan in the hospital. Fabulous!! Now I need to find one!” she says, more or less joking.

Jessica and fiancé Eric Johnson are expecting their first child together, a baby girl whom they will reportedly call Maxwell – or just Maxi.

They found out the happy news as they were planning the wedding, Jessica revealed in an interview, so they decided to put off the nuptials until their daughter was born and the star could fit back into her wedding gown.

Asked when she was due, Simpson once said it would happen in “spring,” refusing to offer a more specific date.
