Only three of the eight cast members are locked in their contracts

MTV’s very controversial reality show “Jersey Shore” has started shooting for season 2, but rumors are already ripe about what may happen once season 3 goes into production. According to ongoing reports cited by NY Post’s PageSix, it could very well be that the upcoming season see some of the cast members depart since their contracts with MTV expire and the network has no intention of renewing them.

Snooki, Pauly D and The Situation are the only three who will actually get to appear in the third season, which means that MTV plans to bring fresh faces for the other five reality stars that will leave. From this to concluding that the network is actually thinking of bringing even more outspoken and outrageous people on board as to make sure that ratings keep going up was but a step that many took once word of this got out.

“Is the ax looming over the ‘Jersey Shore’ cast? Some regulars could be on their way out for season three, including Ronnie Magro, Sammi Giancola, Jenni ‘Jwoww’ Farley and Vinny Guadagnino. They’re now in Miami filming season two, which will end with a return to Seaside Heights,” PageSix writes. As expected, MTV is denying the rumor to left and right.

An unnamed source, though, claims to have good knowledge of the plans for season 3 and how the only thing protecting the 3 is their longer contracts. “Pauly D already has a contract for season three and Snooki and The Situation will stay. The others could be replaced with even more outrageous characters,” says the tipster. MTV is taking the high road on this, saying it hasn’t even started talking about a third season with the cast, let alone decide who stays and who goes. “We haven’t even started talking about season three,” a rep for the network states for the same publication.

For now, all cast members are enjoying their moment in the spotlight. One of the most recent issues of Harper’s Bazaar featured a spread with the “Jersey Shore” girls and boys, the ladies getting a complete makeover and etiquette tips from socialite Tinsley Mortimer, while the gents got to take part in a photoshoot with Victoria’s Secret supermodel Bar Rafaeli, as we also informed you a short while back.
