Seeing as how the amount of negative backlash following her campaign against vaccines for young kids is building up, actress Jenny McCarthy is speaking up on the matter and making things clear. Now she's saying that she's not against vaccines in kids, just for some of the kids.

On Saturday, April 12, Jenny wrote a piece in the Chicago Sun-Times, where she made her position clear, “I am not ‘anti-vaccine.’ This is not a change in my stance nor is it a new position that I have recently adopted. For years, I have repeatedly stated that I am, in fact, ‘pro-vaccine’ and for years I have been wrongly branded as ‘anti-vaccine.’”

Along with Kristin Cavallari, McCarthy has become the main celebrity supporter in the debate over child vaccines. That's why she has recently been subjected to an increasing amount of controversy from people stating that the scientific evidence to support vaccines in children is enough to prove that it's a good idea.

Cavallari, for instance, has chosen not to vaccinate her child at all and has received the full brunt of the media and the public for that, but McCarthy is not seemingly trying to separate herself from that stance.

“I believe in the importance of a vaccine program and I believe parents have the right to choose one poke per visit. I’ve never told anyone to not vaccinate,” Jenny argues.

She redirects her discourse to the moral issue of assuming all children are the same, “Should a child with the flu receive six vaccines in one doctor visit? Should a child with a compromised immune system be treated the same way as a robust, healthy child? Shouldn’t a child with a family history of vaccine reactions have a different plan? Or at least the right to ask questions?”

Jenny blames the media for distorting her message and turning her into this villain that refutes scientific evidence and stubbornly refuses vaccines in all children, “Blatantly inaccurate blog posts about my position have been accepted as truth by the public at large as well as media outlets (legitimate and otherwise), who have taken those false stories and repeatedly turned them into headlines.”

She continues to speak of America's obsession with black or white in every issue, refusing to accept that there is a gray zone in everything. “I will continue to say what I have always said: “One size does not fit all.” God help us all if gray is no longer an option,” she concludes her argument.
