Before Jennifer Love Hewitt began shooting for “The Client List,” which is arguably her naughtiest role to date, she started working out because she knew she’d have to show plenty of skin in front of the camera. All her efforts have paid off now.

The star is featured on the cover of the March issue of Shape magazine, rocking a two-piece pink swimsuit and showing off her toned but still curvy figure.

She tells the publication turning to regular exercise has really saved her life – and no, she’s not talking just about looking good, but about coping with heartbreak and loss.

“When life hits you so hard — whether someone you care for dies or your lover leaves you — working out can save your life. It certainly saved mine,” she says.

She’s talking about her mother’s death last June, which left her so devastated that she wanted to crawl into a hole and never come out. She didn’t, because her friends told her that wasn’t the best thing to do.

Instead, she turned to working out regularly, taking better care of herself.

Today, Jennifer is also looking to her Twitter fan base for inspiration: knowing that many consider her a role model makes her want to push herself harder with everything she does.

She reads their tweets and writes back, and does her best to make them know how much they mean to her.

“I know they’re counting on me to feel powerful,” she says for the mag.

The print issue of Shape will also include diet tips from Jennifer, but also “her five favorite body-sculpting moves, courtesy of Buti, a class created by LA-based pro Bizzie Gold that combines yoga, dance, and plyometrics.”
