Hot new single is a collaboration with rapper French Montana

Jennifer Lopez is still Jenny from the Block. The other night on American Idol, the results show, the diva performed for the first time ever her brand new single, “I Luh Ya Papi,” a collaboration with rapper French Montana.

For it, she and her dancers and backup singers brought back the feel of the Bronx in the ‘80s, complete with rope skipping, hoop earrings, chatty girls sitting on the stairs talking about boys, and hotpants.

Both Jennifer and her backup dancers wore jeans onsies which, in JLo’s case, barely covered her famous backside, glittery tights, and those wedge sneakers that are so hot right now. The dance routine was very brisk, even for Jennifer – but, then again, fans know that she doesn’t take choreography lightly, like other pop stars tend to do.

As for the actual song, it seems to translate better when performed live as compared to the studio version, though I personally find it hilarious to hear Jennifer sing about how much she loves her “puppy,” just as I find amusing the conversion of “love” in “luh.”

For what it’s worth, it’s a catchy song and Jennifer seemed to be having a lot of fun performing and, in the end, these two things do matter. Check out the video above.
