They’re still together, says source, but probably not for long

Jennifer Lopez and her backup dancer beau Casper Smart are almost done, after two years as one of the most mediated couples in showbiz. As reports continue to pour in that he cheated (virtually or less so) on her with at least a couple of transgender models, one source tells People magazine that they’re “still together, technically.”

But not for long.

The celebrity publication doesn’t say anything about whether the cheating allegations are true or not (so far, reps for both stars have refused to comment), but an insider stresses that the scandal has taken a toll on the relationship, which was already on shaky ground.

Trouble began to rear its ugly head a few months ago, when JLo and Casper “hit a rough patch,” though they continued to put up a united front for the cameras on all red carpet appearances, including the one above, which is quite recent.

Always the fighter, Jennifer deemed it best if she and Casper tried to work through their issues, whatever they were. She never lost hope that they might still make it.

“Now, all this stuff comes out about [the cheating]. They’re still together, technically, but no idea for how long. There were issues that pre-date these new reports,” tipsters reveal for People.

Jennifer is too busy right now to think about and / or address the cheating allegations, says another insider, but she will probably do so at the next opportunity. “She has a really busy three weeks and doesn’t have time to deal with this. And she’s on the East Coast and he’s working on the West Coast.”

Because it seems impossible that Jennifer wouldn’t even call Casper to ask him if there was any truth to the rumors on the grounds of how “busy” she was and because the next quote to People is actually a plug for Jennifer’s more recent projects (her single, her album, movies and a TV show she’s producing), word in the blogosphere is that this half-denial of the cheating allegations (because that’s what this is) actually comes from Jennifer’s manager.

In other words, by putting it out there that she and Casper had problems long before he cheated on her through dirty texts and photos with randoms he picked up online, her manager is practically laying the grounds for the breakup announcement and, in doing so, protecting her.

This way, when the breakup news comes, fans will assume the romance died a natural and unpainful death, as it is known to happen in real life, whether we like it or not; whereas the exact opposite might actually be true.

“She couldn’t be in better shape professionally. Personally, it’s a bit more tricky. Put it this way, they were having problems before [this]. You do the math,” adds the source.

As many have already said online on various forums, Jennifer shouldn’t cry over spilled milk because she could do so much better than Casper.
