Jennifer Aniston talks Oscars 2015 snub, says she's happy people are talking about her movie in the first place

Jennifer Aniston’s name has been thrown a lot in conversation this awards season, but when the nominees for the Best Actress category at the Oscars 2015 were announced last week, her name wasn’t on the list, despite her heavy campaigning before the ballots were in.

The surprise was so huge because she’d been mentioned so many times in connection to this particular category, that she was even included on most lists of big snubs.

The film isn’t even out yet, having been released only in select theaters to make it eligible for the Oscar nominations. Rumor has it that Aniston paid for the Oscar campaign out of her own pocket, but if she did, she sure is handling the “snub” in the most graceful manner possible.

“I'm the number one snubbed!” she laughed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show the other day, making light of Ellen’s comment that her snub was an unpleasant surprise with the Oscar nominations.

On a more serious tone, Aniston chooses to look on the positive, awards be damned: this is a small budget film that was shot over the course of a few days in Los Angeles, that’s not even out in wide release, and that is getting this much attention from the media and the critics.

Despite what those haters who think Aniston is a one-note actress, critics who have seen “Cake” have only had amazing things to say about her performance – even those who hated the movie.

So “Cake” didn’t land Aniston an Oscar nomination (her first ever), but it got her several other nods at other industry award shows. She didn’t win a single one of those, but as they say, baby steps. Aniston has just gotten her foot through the door to proving she can act.
