Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux have been spending a lot of time apart in recent months. While their publicists insist there is no mystery behind this because their packed schedules explain the distance, the tabloids are having a field day speculating.

The latest print issue of InTouch Weekly (story via CB), for instance, claims that she is actively pushing him away, perhaps because she no longer wants to be in a relationship with him.

The mag offers “proof” for that by saying that, while Justin was in New York working, he made the time to attend Sir Philip Seymour Hoffman’s funeral and visit his estranged partner and their kids.

He was always alone, but not by choice: Jen basically refused to fly out to be there for him.

The two actors knew each other, and Justin was heartbroken when he found out that Hoffman had died.

“Justin looked like he needed someone. He was totally alone. The fact that Jen couldn’t hop on a five-hour flight to support him is strange. Hopefully whatever kept Jen in LA was really important, because Justin was grieving,” says an insider, who describes Justin as “visibly distraught.”

However, another source chimes in, if you know the dynamics of their relationship, you can’t be surprised by the fact that she wasn’t there for him.

“They’ve drifted apart over the last few months. He started pulling away from her emotionally right before he moved to New York. They’re just not on the same path right now,” says this second unnamed tipster.

Jennifer and Justin became romantically involved in May 2011 and got engaged in August next year. They never said anything about their wedding plans, which has offered the tabloids ample opportunity to speculate – one way or another.

By the looks of things, the speculation isn’t about to stop anytime soon.
