14 DAY TRIAL // There was a time when Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox were inseparable, as the two remained the best of friends even after the hit comedy series “Friends” wrapped up. Since Aniston started dating Justin Theroux, they have not been seen together at all – but that’s about to change soon.
Reports had it that Jen pushed Courteney aside in favor of her new beau, and that Courteney herself told her off because she felt ditched to the curb. Instead of trying to make things alright again, Aniston turned to Chelsea Handler for a best friend.
According to the latest in Star magazine, the print version (story via CB), Jennifer and Courteney are best friends again but that’s only because Jen’s romance with Justin has fizzled, in the sense that it didn’t play out the way she’d expected it to.
“Shortly before Thanksgiving, Jen reached out to Courteney and apologized for pulling away. She opened up that she and Justin were having major problems – she thought they’d be married by the end of the year, and instead they’d grown apart,” an insider reveals for the publication.
Having never lost hope that they might reconcile, Courteney was “an ear to listen” so their friendship “picked up right where it left off,” the spy says. Courteney was never the one to hold a grudge, particularly not against Jennifer.
“Jen knows that she needs good people back in her life… her goal for the trip was to mend her wounds with both Courteney and Justin,” another source reveals. She’s accomplished half of that goal so far.
Aniston and Theroux were engaged in August 2012, a little over a year after they started dating. They never announced a wedding date and the prolonged engagement has often led to speculation on whether it will ever take place.
Rumors that the two have “grown apart” have been picking up in recent months, as he spent more time in NYC shooting for an HBO pilot, while she was in LA.
