31-year-old Derek Medina could be trying to prove his innocence in his wife's murder in a following trial.

According to his father, Derek Medina Sr., he was only defending himself from his wife after she threatened him with a knife.

"He just said that his wife picked up a knife on him, and they had a big fight, and he shot her," Medina described, as relayed by the Mirror.

As I wrote previously, he fatally shot his wife, Jennifer Alfonso, while their 10-year-old daughter was in the house with them.

He them snapped a photo of her dead body and posted it on Facebook with a "Rest in Peace" caption.

ABC Action News reports that he went to the South Miami police station at around 10:00 a.m. and turned himself in.
