There’s a saying in showbiz that goes something along the lines of “even bad publicity is better than no publicity at all.” Former adult star turned author Jenna Jameson is living proof of that, with sales of her new novel actually being helped by the recent controversy around her.

Jameson did an interview with Good Day New York that worried fans and certain media outlets as well, because she was slurring her words and acting as if she was under the influence of something.

She later said that she was just “very tired” and “extremely exhausted,” while her rep shut down reports of drug or alcohol abuse with a statement claiming she’d been sober for years.

Guess what? All this hype Jameson has been getting online, either in the form of (more or less disguised) concern or of mockery, is actually boosting interest in her new book and first novel, “Sugar.”

“A rep for Skyhorse Publishing tells us the company doesn't believe Jenna's sloppy live TV performances will harm the sales of ‘Sugar’ – in fact, they think it put the book on people's literary radar,” TMZ reports.

“As for Jenna's claim that she wasn't intoxicated, but simply TIRED during the interviews, a rep for Skyhorse says JJ's story adds up because she had travel delays the night before her 6AM Good Day NY interview and barely slept,” the report adds.

What the rep doesn’t even mention is the fact that there was a second interview in which James acted just as spaced-out, if not actually more than she did on Good Day New York, with Fox411 this time.

The interviewer writes that she arrived late, with 3 handlers in tow and was barely able to stand even with proper assistance. The video available at the link above is confirmation that Jenna was – how to put this nicely – somewhat under the weather.
