Motorola confirmed it had started the rollout of the update

It’s been a long time since Motorla DROID RAZ and DROID RAZR MAXX received a software update and the last one proved to be a total fail given the high number of issues reported by users.

Even though Motorola kept its promise and delivered the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade, there have been lots of complaints coming from DROID RAZR and DROID RAZR MAXX owners who updated to the latest version.

The update contains lots of bugs and issues that have yet to be addressed. Since June 2012, neither of these bugs has been fixed so the only hope is the next major update, namely Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Luckily, it won’t be too long now until Jelly Bean arrives for DROID RAZR and DROID RAZR MAXX, as Motorola has just begun the soak test for the highly-anticipated update.

The folks over at Phandroid have been recently tipped on the fact that Motorola kicked off the Jelly Bean software test, so those who signed up to this one will probably receive it in the next hours. The following email has been sent to testers:

“Thanks for signing up for the Droid RAZR / Droid RAZR Maxx Jellybean software test. The software should already be pushed to your phone, or it’s on its way.

Apologies for sending this out so late — surveymonkey was down for maintenance last night and that was unexpected.

As expected, the number of Motorola Feedback Network volunteers wildly exceeded our soak test capacity. But we don’t want to leave anyone out, so we found a way to include everyone.

You are part of group that is getting the advanced software, and will be asked to fill out the evaluation survey. However, there won’t be a private area for feedback.

Please look for the evaluation survey in email, most likely on Sunday.”
