14 DAY TRIAL // Love is blind and, they say, indifferent to considerations like age, social statute, and the like. In actor Jeff Goldblum’s case, love really doesn’t care about a 30-year age gap, because he’s determined to marry and spend the rest of his life with his 31-year-old girlfriend Emilie Livingston.
Jeff is 61, by the way. The actor popped the big question to Emilie in Hawaii this week, while they were vacationing and, because we’re living in a “brave new world,” we get all the details of the surprise proposal from Emilie herself, who documented it on social media.
So, in between photos of the two lovebirds together ring picking, of the actual ring, and of the many times they spent kissing or hugging, we also get some info on the proposal, which, Emilie says, occurred a little over a week ago.
“Jul 8 he proposed @ our fave #okstore. I was taken over by tears of joy n ecstasy! We picked the ring 2gether #inlove,” Emilie writes in one tweet.
“Celebrating our engagement! #haleakala #sunrise #jeffgoldblum #emilielivingston #soulmates #initforlife #love,” she says in another.
Emilie is a former Olympic gymnast, a contortionist, and an actress. She and Jeff have been dating for about 2 years and, even though many said they would not last when they first went public (because of the huge age gap), she seems to be in it for the long run.
Paparazzi photos available online of the couple show them always holding hands or kissing, or otherwise touching which, assuming they’re not putting on a show for the cameras, must mean that they’re totally smitten with each other.
This will be Goldblum’s third marriage, after Patricia Gaul and Geena Davis. Despite his age, the actor has always had the reputation of a “player,” but it looks like he’s finally ready to settle down.
In fact, he hinted at it in a recent interview, when asked if he could see himself walking down the aisle again, this time with Emilie. “Oh, gee – well, I would do anything with her. She’s a spectacular woman. Who knows? Maybe so,” he laughed.
Emilie might be feeling generous with the engagement details but, so far, she hasn’t said a peep about a possible wedding date. Let’s just hope that she keeps this up and will be spilling the beans on the impending nuptials on social media because, given the age difference, the media and the fans will want to know more about it.
