“Jean-Claude Van Damme is 100% healthy,” the actor says about rumors of suffering a heart attack

The other day, word got out that veteran action movie star Jean Claude Van Damme had suffered a heart attack and had been briefly hospitalized because of it. The actor himself is now denying the reports.

The actor took to his official Facebook page to urge fans not to believe everything they read in the media since exaggerated reports or even false rumors are bound to emerge, E! Online informs.

This also seems to have been the case with his so-called recent heart attack, which, according to the actor, didn’t even happen since he’s 100 percent healthy.

“Hours ago, I read a rumor online about me suffering heart attack!!,” the actor writes in a post meant to put an end to the ongoing rumors.

“Please, do not believe all what you read from rumors on any unofficial JCVD sites. Jean-Claude Van Damme is 100% healthy, training well for taking the fight and sending his fans & friends much love,” he goes on to say.

“JCVD is in better shape than ever and preparing for his fight in July. He did not suffer from a heart attack on the set of Weapon as reported on some websites!” another post on the actor’s Facebook page reads.

However, what’s odd is that people from Van Damme’s latest film, “Weapon,” confirmed the report that he’d had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital.

“The supposed heart attack in question was first reported by TwitchFilm, which claimed the action star did in fact suffer a minor one as he was filming his latest movie Weapon and was briefly admitted to a hospital in the Big Easy – a story that sources also confirmed with E!’s own movie guy, Ben Lyons,” E! writes.

Lyons wasn’t the only one to confirm the reports either, since Sheldon Lettich, who wrote several scripts for Van Damme’s movies, also told the same story for the media: he’d had a minor heart attack but was well.

“JC felt some tightness in his chest just hours after he’d arrived in New Orleans, and checked himself into a local hospital for tests,” Lettich wrote on a JCVD forum.

They said nothing about his condition “because we were asked – by JC and his agent – to keep it quiet until they could release a statement. Guess the cat somehow got out of the bag before they could do that,” Lettich added.
