14 DAY TRIAL // Starting from now on, Britney Spears will have more than one conservator, as her future husband Jason Trawick has just been named legal caretaker, at his and her father's request.
Word that Jason, who proposed to Britney in late 2011, wanted to assume some of the responsibilities her father Jamie Spears held at the time, first got out at the beginning of the month.
Now, TMZ has confirmation that it's a done deal.
“Britney Spears' fiancé Jason Trawick is officially the singer's newest conservator – the judge in her conservatorship case just signed off on giving him legal power to govern Britney's affairs,” the celebrity publication says.
Britney's dad and conservator Jamie Spears filed the petition earlier this month, asking the court to add Jason as a co-conservator. “We’re told Britney also wanted Jason on board as co-conservator,” adds the same media outlet.
“After the hearing, we overhead the lawyers say Jamie is ‘thrilled.’ The move makes total sense... considering the two are set to be married,” TMZ further says.
Britney and Jason are yet to set a date or, at least, to announce it publicly, but speculation has it the wedding will take place this summer, somewhere in a remote location that will allow them to spend quality time with just family and friends.
As fans of the pop star must undoubtedly know, back in 2008, after a highly mediated series of public meltdowns, which included shaving her head and beating up a paparazzo's car with an umbrella, Britney lost all control over her affairs.
When she locked herself in the house with her two kids, she had to be rushed to the hospital and put on involuntary hold while she was being evaluated.
She lost the full custody of her two boys with Kevin Federline, and her father stepped in to take the reins of her huge business empire, lest she should scatter her fortune to the four winds.
Jamie assumed control over Britney's business and personal life, removing all negative influences from her circle of friends and helping her make a splashing comeback into the spotlight.
Jason is also credited with helping with the comeback, and has been by Britney's side ever since that crucial moment in her life.
