Jared Leto is up for Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars 2014, which will take place on March 2, for his take on Rayon in “Dallas Buyers Club.” He’s still promoting the film and campaigning for his Oscar in his new interview with Flaunt magazine.

The piece also comes with a gorgeous pictorial with the actor, a photo which you will also find attached to this article. If there ever was a man to give a girl major hair envy, Jared Leto would probably be the one.

On to more serious issues, Jared, for whom the role of Rayon represented a comeback to film after a long hiatus, during which time he focused only on his music with his band, 30 Seconds to Mars, says he’s still dazzled by all this Oscar talk.

However, some of the initial shock has worn off, he points out.

“This is a crazy time in my life, but it’s a focused time. It’s not like it’s out of control. You only get to do this once and in this case once may be the only time you get to do it. It’s a funny way to say it, but it’s kind of true. I’m acutely aware of that and very respectful of the path I’m walking down. I’m glad that this happened to me now and not when I first started. It’s a really good thing,” the actor explains.

The fact that he is getting all this attention for playing a character he simply loved (loved!) only serves to remind him that he’s truly blessed. Very few in this industry can say the same.

Then again, Jared Leto is not like other actors: first of all, as he describes himself, he’s a risk-taker. Having played some of the most varied types on screen, he has learned that taking risks doesn’t always pay off. Playing Rayon, a transgender woman who’s dying of AIDS, in “Dallas Buyers Club” is one of those rare times when his willingness to “risk everything” does pay off.

Even better, besides the critical acclaim, Leto got to return to his regular life with such an amazing experience. “She’s an incredible, empathetic, beautiful dreamer,” Leto says of his character in the critically acclaimed film.

“A heart the size of an ocean. She’s an absolutely one-of-a-kind creature. So, a lot of love and support for her as well. I feel like she became a person, a real person. Especially because I was so deep inside of her. I really feel like I got to know this person. It became like a living, breathing life. It was a once-in-a-lifetime role,” Leto adds.
