He did say he was trying to gain weight and bulk up

Shortly after he was confirmed for the role of The Joker in David Ayer’s upcoming “Suicide Squad,” Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto revealed in an interview that he was already on a diet to gain weight and bulk up for the movie.

The first official promo pic of The Joker (above), released over the weekend by the director, didn’t show any trace of the alleged weight gain / bulking up. Leto looked his lithe but very toned self, but with more makeup and plenty of fake tattoos.

However, we have proof that this photo was an older one, and it comes straight from Leto’s Instagram. He posted a photo of his torso and arms with several emojis saying that he’d been putting in the extra time at the gym and he was pleased with the results.

He has every reason to be, as you can see below. Leto’s face isn’t visible in the photo, but you can recognize him by the tattoos.

The fact that he’s wearing a Superman shirt is a nice extra touch, isn’t it?

“Suicide Squad” also stars Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Jai Courtney and Joel Kinnaman, and will be out in August 2016. It brings together some of the most famous and dangerous villains from the DC Comics, as a task force under governmental orders.
