Android users from Japan who install an app that can allegedly allow them to see through a person’s clothing might get more than they have bargained for.

Symantec experts have identified several variants of an application called Infrared X-Ray. The more harmless variants are designed to retrieve contact information and send SMS messages advertising the app to all the individuals from the address book.

The more dangerous versions are designed for “one-click fraud.” When they’re installed, they download and display registration details for an adult website.

Then, they instruct victims to pay 29,000 Yen ($305 / 235 EUR) for the service, otherwise they threaten to start sending SMS messages to contacts.

Until it’s uninstalled, the app keeps bugging the users about paying the registration fee.

In order to make it more difficult to remove, the crooks have programmed the malicious app to delete itself from the launcher after it’s installed.
