The PlayStation Portable handheld from Sony is still the best sold individual console model in Japan, although overall sales continued to fall for a second week in a row as no important videogames were released. When it comes to platform sales, the Nintendo DS family managed to outsell the PSP, although just barely.

The PSP currently stands at 28,635, which is lower than the 29,766 units it moved during the previous week, with the PlayStation 3 again taking second place with 25,590 consoles shipped to gamers. The position of the Sony home console is threatened by the Nintendo Wii, which sold 24,344 devices in seven days but saw a lower fall over the previous period when compared with the PlayStation 3.

The DSi LL handheld succeeded in moving 17,146 units in one week, with the DSi version of the device selling 11,240 and with the DS Lite, despite being thoroughly outdated, shipping 2,869, which is more than the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PSP Go and the PlayStation 2 that stands last in the sales chart, although it actually saw its sales increase from 1,826 to 1,915.

There are also decreasing numbers when it comes to videogames, with New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo Wii, a game launched late in 2009, managing to be the best seller for the second week in a row. It sold 32,000 units, which is pretty low for a number one, with Friend Collection from Nintendo for the DS in second, at 21,000.

Third place is taken up by the PSP version of Pro Baseball Spirits 2010 from Konami, with 21,000 copies sold, while the PS3 version of the same videogame comes in with 19,000. The two new entries in the top ten are the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 versions of No More Heroes' Paradise from Marvelous, with combined sales of 31,000.
