The PlayStation Vita handheld from Sony has managed to get another solid week of sales on the Japanese market just as the leaders of the hardware and the software charts remain unchanged from last week.

The Media Create compiled sales data for the week that ended on July 1st shows that the Nintendo 3DS handheld has managed to sell 66,391 units during the week, which is a little lower than the 68,056 that it managed during the previous seven-day period but more than double what it moved at the same point of 2011.

The PlayStation Vita has managed the rare feat of moving to second spot in the chart, with overall sales of 25,636 units, close to double the 13,589 that it managed for the week that ended on June 24.

The PlayStation 3 home console has seen an overall increase in sales, reaching 17,292, but it has slid down the chart to the last place on the podium.

The older version of the PSP is another device that has increased sales, managing to deliver 10,674 devices to fans.

The Nintendo Wii seems to have temporarily reversed its own long-term decline, pushing sales up to 6,987 coming from 6,127.

The older versions of the Nintendo DS have sold better than the PlayStation 2 and the Xbox 360.

When it comes to software Pokemon Black & White 2 is still the leader of the pack, selling 420,780 copies during its second week on sale and moving past the 2 million mark overall.

Second place went to a new entry, Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of the Land of Twilight from Gust for the PlayStation 3, with sales of 60,548 while the third position has been occupied by Culdcept from Nintendo for the 3DS, which moved 55,469 units.

The rest of the top ten includes Robotics Notes, Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland 3D, Resident Evil Chronicles HD Selection, Fatal Frame 2: Wii Edition, Metal Gear Solid HD Edition, Sekai no Mukou ni + Versus - Hybrid Pack and The Idolmaster: Gravure For You! Vol.9.
