Sales of hardware have been slowing down on the Japanese market while Super Mario Galaxy 2 continues to lead the software chart. It's a slow period as gamers are preparing to watch the announcements from E3 and with most potential buyers looking forward to the fall, which will come packed with launch dates for Kinect, the motion tracking solution from Microsoft, the PlayStation Move from Sony and maybe even a surprise new piece of hardware from Nintendo.

The PlayStation Portable is the best selling platform for the week, managing to move 23,588 units to gamers, which is less than during the previous week but still beating the numbers coming from the entire Nintendo DS family. Sony must be happy to see the PlayStation 3 home console taking second place, with sales of 18,951, which is again less than during the previous seven days. The Nintendo Wii is third with 18,818 devices sold, almost 2,000 less than before.

The DSi LL saw quite a sharp drop in sales, going from 16,267 to 10,737, with some users potentially waiting for the Nintendo 3DS in order to make a purchase. The Xbox 360 from Microsoft moved 3,258 units, which is more than the DS Lite, the PlayStation 2 and the PSP Go.

On the software side, Super Mario Galaxy 2 from Nintendo is again leading the charts, with about 105,000 copies sold, which is quite a slowdown from the more than 300,000 it shipped in its launch week.

Second place went to Fairy Tail Portable Guild from Konami for the PlayStation Portable, which succeeded in moving 35,000 units to gamers, while third place on the podium was gained by Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 from Square Enix for the Nintendo DS, with sales of 23,000. Another new entry was Hisshou Pachinko Pachislot Kouryaku Series Portable Vol. 1: CR Neon Genesis for the PSP, which launched at number six.
