Sony handheld has title on third place in software chart

Sales of the PlayStation Vita handheld from Sony has seen an increase on the Japanese market for the week, the first time since launch it has done so, while the rival Nintendo 3DS has also seen an increase in the number of units it has managed to move to gamers.

According to the data compiled by Media Create for the week ending on January 29 shows the Nintendo 3DS selling 84,789 units, which is an increase over the 80,960 that it has managed during the previous week.

Second place in the hardware chart has been occupied by the PlayStation 3, the bestselling home console in Japan, with sales that have also gone up to reach 22,924 coming from 21,155.

Third place was occupied by the new PlayStation Vita handheld, which Sony will be happy to report that it has managed to post a sales increase of more than 3,000 units in order to reach 18,942 consoles sold for the seven-day period.

The normal PSP version continues its slow decline, selling just over 16,000 and posting a decline of more than 1,000 units.

The Nintendo Wii is again hovering around the 10,000 units sold mark, head of the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the DSi LL, the normal DSi and the PlayStation 2.

The bestselling video game of the week was the newly launched Armored Core V, created by From Software, which has managed to move 163,906 copies during its opening week, while second place was occupied by another newly launched title, Resident Evil: Revelations from Capcom, which managed to sell 146,559 units.

Third place went to Tales of Innocence R from Namco Bandai for the PlayStation Vita, which sold 54,853 units during its first week on sale.

The rest of the top ten is made up of: Mario Kart 7, Monster Hunter 3G, Armored Core V, Super Mario 3D Land, Idolmaster Anime & G4U Pack V.4, Rhythm Thief and Inazuma Eleven Go.
