The Nintendo 3DS continues to lead the way on home market

The Nintendo 3DS handheld has managed to once again do very well in Japan, according to the sales figures delivered by Media Create, while the PlayStation Vita handheld from Sony managed to reach a new low even as a game designed specifically for good sales.

The Nintendo 3DS has managed to sell 67,558 units for the week which ended on February 12, which is lower than the 75,018 that it had managed during the previous seven-day period, even as most other gaming platforms remained largely flat.

The PlayStation 3 home console from Sony managed to keep second place in the hardware chart, moving 22,022 device to gamers, down from 23,293, as the older model of the PlayStation Portable has managed to get third place with sales of 15,860, a few units more than it had managed on the week that ended on February 5.

The PlayStation Vita is performing worse than ever, selling just 13,939 units during the week, down from 17,141.

The Wii has also seen a slight decline to reach 8,206 consoles sold while the PlayStation 2 has managed to sell better than the Xbox 360, the DSi LL and the normal DSi.

The bestselling title of the week that ended on February 12 was a PlayStation Portable game, Genso Suikoden Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki from Konami, which managed to sell 61,784 copies during its launch week.

Gravity Daze, a video game created by Sony specifically to show off the abilities of the PlayStation Vita, has also managed to do well and captured second place with sales of 43,462 while the last position on the podium was captured by Resident Evil Revelations from Capcom, which has managed to move another 26,106 copies to Japanese players.

The rest of the top ten is made up of Mario Kart 7, Monster Hunter 3G, Super Mario 3D Land, Gran Turismo 5 Spec II, Armored Core V, Ragnarok Odyssey and Just Dance Wii.
