The Japanese market has seen a slow down in sales after the uptick registered during the previously reported on period but the PlayStation Portable handheld from Sony managed to remain the most sold piece of hardware while God Eater: Burst topped the video games sales chart.

The PSP has sold 34,538 units during the previous seven day period, which is lower than the 38,874 it had reported before that but managed to top its closest rivals.

Sony must be pleased to see that the PlayStation 3 home console managed to jump up one place from third to second, even though it saw a drop in actual sales from 28,255 to 23,524.

The decrease for the DSi LL version, the one with the bigger screen and more cameras, has seen the biggest decrease of the week, going to just 22,858 units sold from 32,137.

The normal DSi also went downhill, from 23,614 to 16,036, while the Nintendo Wii sits only in fifth place in its home market, with sales of 11,521 hardware units.

The drop in DS family sales is probably linked with the approaching launch date for the technologically superior Nintendo 3DS, which arrives on February 26,2011.

The PSP GO, with 2,918 units sold, managed to outsell the DS Lite, the Xbox 360 and the PS2.

God Eater: Burst, from Namco Bandai and for the PSP, managed to retain its edge when it comes to the video game chart, moving 61,834 units, a rather low figure for a number one.

Second spot went to Super Mario All Stars Limited Edition from Nintendo for the Wii home console, which managed to sell 56,848 copies in seven days and went up from third to second.

In third place Japanese buyers have placed the long standing top ten hit Pokemon Black and Hite, sith sales of 56,719 units.

World Soccer Winning Eleven 2011 from Konami is fourth while Fallout: New Vegas, from Obsidian and Bethesda, debuted in fifth place.
