The Nintendo Wii home console has seen its sales numbers more than triple on the Japanese hardware market, bringing the platform up to the second place in the hardware chart compiled by Media Create, while the role playing game Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together has taken the first spot in the software chart.

The PlayStation Portable handheld from Sony managed to remained the best selling piece of hardware in Japan, moving 40,328 units to gamers, which is quite a bit better than the 34,538 which it managed during the previous week.

The Wii has reached sales of 39,308, a huge improvement over the 11,521 in the previous week, mainly because of a new hardware bundle which is linked to a 25 year anniversary for Mario.

The PlayStation 3 has dropped one place to third place in the chart, seeing a decrease in overall sales from 23,524 units to 21,114.

Fourth place went to the LL version of the DSi handheld from Nintendo, the one with the bigger screen, which also saw a drop of about 4,000 units to 18,711.

The normal DSi is in fifth place, with sales of 13,994, also down compared to the previous week.

The PSP Go from Sony managed to sell better than the original Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the DS Lite and the PS2.

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together has managed to sell 176,153 copies on the PlayStation Portable to take the first spot in the video game chart while another new entry, Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 from Namco Bandai, for the PS3, managed to also move 47,610 units to take second place.

Super Mario All Star Limited Edition from Nintendo is in third place, with sales of 43,621, while former number one Pokemon Black and White shows staying power, with sales of 42,279 bringing it to fourth place.

The rest of the top ten includes: Magician’s Quest: The Merchant’s Store of Sorcery, God Eater: Burst, World Soccer Winning Eleven 2011, Wii Party, Wii Sports Resort and Kirby's Epic Yarn.
