PlayStation 3 and PSP also make the podium for Sony

The Nintendo 3DS has managed to once again push its sales numbers op on the Japanese market while the newly launched Dark Souls has captured the top position of the video game chart, according to the sales figures that were compiled by tracking firm Media Create for the week that ended on September 26.

The Nintendo 3DS handheld has sold 70,159 units during one week, which is a good increase when compared to the 58,837 sold during the previous seven day period.

Second place in the hardware chart again went to the PlayStation 3 home console from Sony, which managed to move 39,452 units during the week, while third spot was picked up by the PlayStation Portable handheld, another device that has seen an increase in sales, from 25,122 to 28,533.

Sales of the Nintendo Wii stand at 14,034 units while the Xbox 360 from Microsoft has managed to see a good boost from the launch of the Gears of War 3, selling 3,897 consoles during one week.

The DSi XL has sold better than the normal DSi, the PS2, the DS Lite and the PSP Go.

Dark Souls, the new extra hard action game from Namco Bandai for the PlayStation 3 has managed to sell 279,567 copies during its first week on sale and take over the number one position, while another new launch, the Limited Box of the updated ICO and Shadow of the Colossus with High Definition graphics has taken second spot with sales of 91,902 units.

Third place went to Yu-gi-oh 5D’s Tag Force 6 for the PSP, which sold 64,350 copies.

The rest of the top ten is made up of: Gears of War 3, Dragon Quest Collection, Senran Kagura, Busou Shinki Battle Masters Mk.2, ToHeart2 DX Plus, Tales of Xillia and Champion Jockey Gallop Racer & G1 Jockey.
