Such high pixel density will probably become the norm for smarpthones in 2014

Japan Display, an LCD manufacturer, has pulled the veil off of its Innovation Vehicles for 2013. This basically means that the company has decided to showcase its latest technology which will probably end up being incorporated in new lines of products starting 2014.

By far the most interesting presence here is the 7-inch display designed for tablets. What’s special about it is that it will be boasting a massive pixel density of 432 ppi, which can translate into a WQXGA resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, AndroidAuthority reports.

To make a comparison, the slates with the highest pixel density currently available on the market are the Nexus 7 2013 and Kindle Fire HDX with 323 ppi. Asus’s Transformer Pad TF701T comes pretty close with 299 ppi.

JDI is confident that it can increase the number by the end of the year. The company works with the WhiteMagic technology that allows the consistent reduction of power consumption as WhiteMagic panels are much brighter than LCD panels. Also due to the Pixel Eyes technology, the display will be touch sensitive and will respond well to styluses.

So far, JDI has only teased panels aimed at 7-inch tablets, but who knows, maybe we’re going to end up seeing the same for 10-inchers as well.
