The Nintendo 3DS handheld has seen an increase in sales during the last week in Japan while the PlayStation Vita platform from Sony has continued its slow but steady decline just as North America and European gamers got their hands on it.

The Nintendo 3DS has had another good week, managing to sell 94,667 units during the week that ended on February 19, according to the sales figures compiled by Media Create, which is significantly more than the 67,558 that it has managed during the previous seven-day period.

The PlayStation 3 from Sony has managed to keep second place in the hardware chart, moving 21,993 console to players, which is a slow decline when compared to the 22,002 reported during the previous week.

The PlayStation Portable has continued to perform better than the much-newer Vita, selling 15,860 units in one week, lower than during the previous period, while the new PlayStation handheld has sold just 12,309, another decline when compared to the 13,939 of the previous week.

The Nintendo Wii has also seen sales decline but came ahead of the old DSi line, the PlayStation 2 and the Xbox 360.

When it comes to the video game chart, the New Love Plus new release from Konami, for the Nintendo 3DS, has been the best performing title of the week, selling 104,969 copies during its launch period.

Binary Domain, the new squad-based shooter from SEGA for the PlayStation 3, another new release, has managed to sell 73,683 units during its own launch week to get second place, while Theatrhythm Final Fantasy has picked up the last place on the podium for Square Enix.

The rest of the top ten includes: Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Monster Hunter 3G, Samurai Warriors 3 Z Special, Resident Evil: Revelations, Suikoden: Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki and Gravity Rush.
