Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City is debut week number one

The Japanese hardware and video game chart for the week that ended on April 29 shows that the Nintendo 3DS handheld has managed to keep the number one position on its home market while Reside Evil: Operation Raccon City has managed to become one of the biggest releases of the year.

The 3DS has sold 74,282 units during the seven-day period, which is a decrease of more than 10,000 units over the period that Media Create has previously reported on, and is followed in the hardware chart by the old PlayStation Portable model, with sales of 22,457, which is almost double what the device posted during the previous week.

The PlayStation 3, the familiar number two, is now in third, with sales that have also gone up from 16,390 units to 21,114.

The PlayStation Vita from Sony has also seen an increase, selling 12,299 devices in the seven-day period, significantly more than the 8,206 it managed during the week before.

The Nintendo Wii home console has sold 9,200 device in order to come out ahead of the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 and older DSi models.

The video game chart was dominated by Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City, from Capcom for the PlayStation 3 home console, which has managed to sell 252,525 units during the first week it has spent on store shelves in Japan.

Second place was taken over by another new release, Mario Party 9 from Nintendo and for the Wii, which has moved 152,883 copies to gamers while the last place on the podium was captured by Fire Emblem Awakening, also from Nintendo, with sales of 60,313 units.

The rest of the top ten is made up of: Surge Concerto Ciel nosurge, Conception Please Give Birth to My Children, Steins;Gate Hiyoku Renri no Darling, Idolmaster Anime & G4U! Pack Vol.7, Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City, Super Mario 3D Land and Dynasty Warriors VS.
