Jermaine Jackson says act will hit the road later this year

The millions of fans who had bought a ticket for Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” tour, which was meant to be the biggest comeback the music industry ever witnessed, were, of course, heartbroken when the singer passed away. At the time, reports of Jackson 5 reuniting were also making the rounds – and they’re now starting to pick up speed again, as Canoe-Jam (citing a Wenn report) can confirm.

Before the date summer tour was supposed to kick off, reports were saying that Michael had agreed to tour with his brothers as part of Jackson 5 again and that said tour would take place after he was done with “This Is It.” Even after their brother’s death, the four brothers insisted that the tour would take place and that someone else would replace Michael – with that someone turning out to be Janet now.

Nothing has been confirmed officially but, as per many reports in the media, Jermaine is telling people that they have contacted Janet with an offer and she actually said yes to it. That offer has her as her brother’s replacement in Jackson 5 and touring – perhaps initially only in the US – as an act. Dates have not been announced and further details are, at the moment, unavailable, while an official announcement is also pending. However, having Jermaine say this to the media should count as half a confirmation, it is being said.

“Janet Jackson has agreed to take her late brother Michael’s place in the Jackson 5 when the reformed sibling group embarks on a world tour later this year. The singer was rumored to be joining her brothers as a tribute to the King of Pop, who died last June, but has so far denied she will be taking part in the shows. But now Janet is preparing to sing with the Jackson 5 on stage, according to her brother Jermaine. He says, ‘We had a conference call and Janet has agreed to join us on tour’,” the report goes.

However, there are some things that don’t quite fit in, like the report saying that the tour will start later this year going against the fact that Janet is having a new album out this June, many music-oriented media outlets point out. If she’s indeed to come out with something new this summer, this means she’ll be too busy promoting her own stuff, which makes a tour almost impossible. Should more on this emerge, rest assured you’ll find out about it here.
