14 DAY TRIAL // As speculation is making the rounds that the remaining brothers from Jackson 5 are working on an entire tribute concert for their late brother, the King of Pop Michael Jackson, Janet too is preparing for her own tribute. TMZ and choreographer Wade Robson have confirmed, albeit without MTV also doing the same, that the singer is now rehearsing for an MJ tribute performance at the VMAs on September 13.
Until a few hours ago, when these reports surfaced, nothing of the kind had been heard in the media, with Janet going back into hiding after the funeral ceremony of last week, as far as fans knew. According to industry sources, this has been her aim all along, as she did not want anyone to catch wind of the performance because, obviously, she wants it to be a surprise. One might as well point out that the cat is out of the bag now.
“Ms. Jackson is set to put on a huge MJ-honoring performance featuring 20 backup dancers – which is being put together by some of the best choreographers in the world, including Frank Gatson and Travis Payne. According to Kryiss Grant, one of the dancers involved (who was also an usher at MJ’s burial), some rehearsals have lasted 15 hours a day. Once Janet is finished honoring her brother, Grant tells us ‘there won’t be a dry eye in the house’.” TMZ writes.
On the other hand, famed choreographer Wade Robson is gushing on his MySpace page about the same surprise performance. What this actually means, with so many people revealing details on it is that chances are very high this will actually be happening come September 13. Whether Janet’s tribute performance will also manage to be as extraordinary as they now say, it is still to be determined.
“Wade Robson, Mia Michaels, Brian Friedman, Cris Judd, Travis Payne, Tina Landon, Dave Scott, Tyce Diorio, Jerry Slaughter, Laurie Ann Gibson & Gil Duldulao are performing with Janet Jackson on the MTV VMA Awards on September 13th in tribute to Michael Jackson” Robson writes on his MySpace page.
