The promo trail for “Terminator: Genisys,” this summer’s “Terminator” reboot, got off to a rather rocky start, but Paramount Pictures just struck gold by getting James Cameron, who directed the first 2 original films, to speak in its favor.

“Genisys,” as you can see in the video below, comes with Cameron’s seal of approval: he’s seen the reboot and he loved everything about it, from the way it’s respectful of the originals to the twist of making John Connor, the savior of the new world, into a machine.

That twist was actually one of the biggest missteps in the film’s marketing, since many fans believed it should not have been revealed in posters and trailers, but saved for the release.

Well, Cameron loved it. Also says that he considers “Genisys” the rightful sequel to his 2 films, the one they deserved from the start. That’s bad news if you loved “Rise of the Machines” and “Salvation,” obviously.

“I feel like the franchise has been reinvigorated, like this is a renaissance,” Cameron continues. This is the highest praise the film is yet to receive and, I believe, the only recommendation fans of the franchise needed in order to give it a chance.

“Genisys” will be out in theaters on July 3 and will bring Arnold Schwarzenegger back. He is joined by a younger cast including Jai Courtney, Emilia Clarke and Jason Clarke.
