Jailbreak Toys is the maker and seller of the highly popular Obama action figure. So as not to have the plastic President suffer from loneliness, the company has just unveiled a new line of dolls: the historically accurate Michelle Obama doll, coming in three different variants, that is, outfits. The Michelle doll is priced at $13 and has been released just in time for the holiday season, with the makers hoping it will kill over Christmas, as CoolHunting informs.

The plastic First Lady comes with Michelle’s by-now-trademark bare arms and “wearing” three distinct outfits: the red-and-black one she wore on the Election Day, the “fist bump” purple number, and the black-and-white dress she donned on The View. All three are, as one can easily see, tailored to show off her toned arms. Jailbreak Toys has already sold an estimated 200,000 items of Obama and is hoping the Michelle doll will fare much better once it starts shipping on November 20.

“With over 200,000 Barack Obama action figures sold, Jailbreak owner Jason Feinberg predicts Michelle will be even more popular. The six-inch figure is made of phthalate-free PVC and features six points of articulation. You can pre-order all three versions for $13 each from the Jailbreak site. The figures will ship 20 November 2009. Jailbreak adds this ‘disclaimer’ to the pages in their online store: ‘This product is not formally endorsed by or affiliated with Michelle Obama. (But we really hope she likes it.)’” CoolHunting writes of the recently unveiled product.

The White House has not made any comment yet about the new doll, but the bosses at Jailbreak Toys insist it came to be as the next logical step in Michelle’s rise to popularity. Apparently, the idea to make one such product came after noticing how the First Lady was becoming ever so popular with all groups, no matter their political orientation. The doll, therefore, is not meant to offend or shamelessly capitalize on Mrs. Obama’s fame, but rather to pay her a humble homage.

“If there’s one person in America who has captured the public’s imagination even more than Barack Obama, it’s his wife Michelle. So following the runaway success of the Obama Action Figure we simply had to make Michelle because Barack and Michelle are a team in the best and truest sense of the word and you can’t have one without the other. Just like in real life, the Michelle Obama Action Figure isn’t simply a female counterpart to Barack. She’s her own lady with her own style and energy and, of course, her own fashion sense.” Jailbreak Toys says on the official webpage of the doll.
