14 DAY TRIAL // Jaden Smith is no regular teen: for one thing, he’s the son of one of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood, Will Smith, and actress wife Jada Pinkett. Secondly, he’s a budding artist himself, and rich beyond his dreams. Last but not least, he is also an artiste.
Though his main interests are in film and music, Jaden is also very passionate about fashion. He’s said before that his aim was to innovate fashion to the point where he’d be wearing stuff no one else would, and he seems to have accomplished that on his first day at Coachella, when he stepped out wearing a dress.
Jaden swerves a bit too hard for once
If you know anything of this young man, you know that he’s usually wearing the kind of outfits you also see on pop star Justin Bieber: pants hanging loose and barely covering his bum, ripped T-shirts in simple colors hanging loose and resembling dresses, sneakers, leather items, etc.
His most recent outfit would probably have not have made too many headlines if word hadn’t gotten out that he was wearing a woman’s dress, because you could have mistaken the dress for one of those long tees.
Under the long jersey dress, Jaden wore denim shorts. He accessorized with a white crochet tank, high socks in garish animal print, sneakers and a long pendant.
Three days before this outing, as you can see in the Instagram posts below, the 16-year-old informed his fans and followers that he was out shopping for girls’ clothes.
However, he seems to have realized that his dress and shorts combo wasn’t as inspired as he imagined it would be, tweeting that he may have “swerved too hard.” It happens to the best of them, apparently.
Jaden the artiste
Jaden doesn’t do interviews that often, but when he does, they usually go viral because of the amount of pretentiousness he manages to pack in every single soundbite.
When speaking of fashion, he once said that, while he loves pure fashion, he’s not into clothes in the sense of wanting to buy only designer duds. Most of the times, he explained, he wore stuff he made, “but I throw it on as though I was throwing on anything. It looks cool, sometimes.”
“I just try to innovate [my fashion] and do things that people have never seen before and say things that people have never heard before,” he said in another interview.
His father recently claimed that Jaden only owned one pair of shoes and about a couple of T-shirts because he wasn’t into material stuff. Paparazzi photos confirm that he’s as much into material things as the Jenner girls, with whom he happens to be friends.
