Jacqueline Bisset, 69, and Jane Seymour, 63, are two of the many examples of how aging can be done gracefully, beautifully and with a smile on your face. They also happen to work in an industry where, once past 40, you tend to become invisible and pressure on you to maintain your youthful looks builds.

In a world where it has become norm to get regular “maintenance” work with Botox and fillers, or plastic surgery, seeing Jacqueline and Jane stand up for natural beauty comes as a breath of fresh air.

Making a joint appearance on The Today Show’s Love Your Selfie segment (see the two videos embedded below), the two actresses are sending the message loud and clear that it’s ok to have wrinkles and not to be “perfect” because that’s not what matters the most in life.

Jane admits that she had work done on her eyes over 2 decades ago, to remove the bags she inherited from her father, and that she also had her breasts done a long time ago. Bisset, on the other hand, says she stays away from the plastic surgeon because she simply doesn’t want to lose that which makes her who she is.

Both screen icons also refuse to get Botox and fillers. As they put it, their face is their “canvas” and, once they inject it with stuff meant to banish wrinkles, they will lose all flexibility in it.

“I made a choice a while ago that I wanted to age gracefully and actually have my own face. I wanted to have all my muscles moving and I wanted to be able to play older and younger and all of the above,” Seymour says, explaining how she “needs” her wrinkles.

Of course, every woman or man has bits they hate about their bodies, and these two very beautiful and talented ladies are no exception. Still, Jacqueline insists, the key in life is acceptance of these.

“You've got to get used to yourself you have to face yourself on a deep deep level and say ‘There are people who love me. The inside of me.’ It took me my life to get there,” she laughs.

Of course, “some degree” of discipline is also involved in looking good: after all, you are what you eat and how you live your life and, by the time you get to the age of these two actresses, it will inevitably show in your figure and in your face.

But what these two stars are doing is telling the whole wide world that beauty is not skin deep. Seymour explains that beauty is in a smile and in the confidence that shines in your eyes, confidence stemming from knowing you are loved, you are accomplished, you are happy.

This way, a smile is the best kind of facelift you should ever consider getting.
