Speakers don't usually produce any light, save for the indicator LEDs on the power button, and maybe the volume, so Harman decided to take advantage of this potential market.

That's how the JBL Pulse speaker came to be, a cylindrical, tube-like speaker that has more than its fair share of internal lights.

Together, those LEDs create a Multi-LED light show that shifts and changes along with the tune of the song being played.

In fact, the portable speaker can be programmed to manipulate that light in various ways, painting your room in a myriad of flowing nuances. Basically, it's a sort of substitute for a disco globe, more or less, one that can produce sound to boot.

"JBL Pulse will change the way you enjoy music," said Michael Mauser, president of HARMAN Lifestyle.

"You'll be amazed how much more immersive the listening experience can be, with a lightshow perfectly synched in brightness and color with the music."

Retailers should already have the JBL Pulse up for sale at $199 / €199.
