A modern approach to loudspeaker design

The latest release from the spearheading name in the loudspeaker industry, JBL, comes with a simple yet powerful name: Control. Despite such obvious simplicity, the JBL Control brings a completely new approach to the sound installations in our homes and the way we have been used to look at the audio rigs in our residences, offices and other places.

The keyword for JBL Control is "versatility": the Control is by far one of the most versatile and easy to install speakers you've ever seen. And, in case you're thinking of an intricate design to go with it, you're wrong: the JBL Control means simply thinking outside the box, yet with feasible and spectacular results.

The construction and engineering behind the JBL Control have been based on a modular basis rather than who knows what extreme technologies - from one Control, up to 4 units can be linked together and you can actually have fun building these shapes and having them installed in places where no speaker has ever gone before.

When 4 JBL Controls are linked together, you get a disc-shaped loudspeaker that can be hanged from the ceiling or placed on a tabletop; take a Control out and you'll get one of the most stupendous speakers you've seen: a unit that can be installed in a convex corner!

Take one more Control out and you'll transform this speaker into a device that can be easily wall-mounted vertically or horizontally, as you wish. Finally, a single JBL Control can be placed on shelves, tabletops or in the corner, horizontally as well as vertically. So far on the "installability" side, the JBL Control is simply great. What remains to be tested is its capability to drive high-class audio like the rest of the JBL products.

As the official data tells, the casing is made from a high-strength composite material and the driver complement runs on dual 4" PolyPlas shielded woofers and 3/4" Titanium-laminate dome in patented Bi-Radial horn, shielded tweeters. With a 50W continuous RMS power rating and 90 dB sensitivity, these 8 Ohms speakers blast from 80 to 30,000 Hz. Prices run around $250 apiece.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
