14 DAY TRIAL // Italy's first zonkey has recently been born at an animal reserve in Florence. His name is Ippo, and he is the love child of a zebra and a donkey.
Keepers at the animal reserve where Ippo was born say that his arrival was not in any way planned.
On the contrary, they did their best to prevent the zebra and the donkey from getting anywhere near one another, sources say.
Eventually, the zebra got fed up with being told who he can and can't date. Long story short, he jumped over a protective fence and got to the donkey, thus proving once and for all that true love really does conquer all.
At least if one happens to be a herbivore living at an animal reserve.
Unlike his parents' love affair, Ippo's life is calm and peaceful. The calf is in good health, and appears to be thriving.
